Attorney Davenport operated a legal practice for many years. Over that time, he focused on advising entrepreneurs and small businesses as a business lawyer on issues ranging from business formation, planning, due diligence to litigation and dispute resolution. He acted as outside general counsel for small businesses and secured specialists in various areas to address client issues. He is currently Of Counsel to Henry Terrell and Associates, PLLC, a real estate focused law office.
In his international practice, Mr. Davenport has conducted business in various capacities in North America, South America, Asia, Europe and Africa. He organized the team and advised on the management of the project that developed the sister organization of the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) in Brazil. He organized and managed the first ever effort of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) to impact the development of an oil-based economy of an African country. He negotiated and drafted an agreement between the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, the CBC’s not-for-profit entity, and Sao Tome Y Principe to help the country avoid the negative experiences other African oil producing countries have experienced. The project developed a plan to help diversify the country’s economy.
Mr. Davenport helped negotiate and draft Memoranda of Understandings between the United States Export Import Bank (ExIm) and the Business Women’s Network (BWN) and between ExIm and the NMSDC to offer financing for international transactions to the women business owners in the BWN network and the certified minority businesses in the NMSDC network.
In his domestic practice, Mr. Davenport has had high profile success representing clients. He conceived, organized and executed a strategy to create a consortium of veteran owned businesses to participate in the Deep-Water project of the United States Coast Guard. The consortium secured a contract from the winning team that totaled over $250 Million.
Mr. Davenport has acted as Owner’s Representative in over a $100 Million in development of affordable housing within the District of Columbia from concept.
In business, Mr. Davenport has worked with numerous technology start up projects, including but not limited to Illuminex Corporation, CyberIQ, Inc and Alkimie Data Labs, Inc. He is currently assisting Aquaneers, Inc., a nanotechnology company focused on commercialization of patented processes for catalysis and desalinization of water by photovoltaics.
