Hailed from the second largest city in Nigeria, Kano State as an Intra-prenuer Abdullateef is the General Manager of projects in Phase 3 Telecom, an aerial fiber optic network infrastructure provider, providing connectivity, network management and data storage services to wholesale, enterprise and retail customers across West Africa, where he delivered solutions to the region. In 2005, He received his bachelor’s degree from Bayero University Kano (BUK), where he studied Electrical Engineering. During his undergraduate, he was a recipient of the Federal Government of Nigeria Scholarship. Learning from experts, Abdullateef interned with National Electricity Power Authority (NEPA) in 2002 and Siemens Nigeria in 2004 where he learned about optical networks, telephony, Power Systems, and Renewable energy systems. After a year of national youth service and 2 years of work in an Information and Communications Technology (ICT) firm, He continued his education and received a master's degree in Information and Communications Technology from the Northern University of Malaysia with Honors as the best graduate student of class of ICT 2009. During this time, he also worked as a research assistance with SendR-IT in Sintok, Malaysia conducting data mining research using Neural Networks (NN). He is also an Alumnus of the United State telecommunication training institute (USTTI), Washington DC, USA.
Putting his wealth of experience to practice, Abdullateef joined Suburban West Africa, in 2010 as a Business Solutions Manager where he developed WIMAX, Tele-Medicine, e-Learning, Local Area Network, Optical transmission, WiFi-hotspot, and Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) solutions. After three (3) years of outstanding performance, He was promoted to a senior manager role leading network Infrastructure and operations team in the organization. During this period, He led the implementation of the first pilot of FTTX project in Abuja and Lagos targeted to connect 10,000 homes with triple play services in five years for the company. In 2013, Abdullateef joined Phase 3 telecom where his wealth of experience helped designed, implement and expands phase 3 optical Aerial network infrastructure running on 132KV and 330KV power lines including the underground optical infrastructure. He has deployed numerous high profile projects in Nigeria and across sub-Sahara Africa for reputable company such as World Bank, Africa Development Bank, Real Estates, Mobile Network Operator (MNO) and retail customers. He led the implementation of Phase 3 telecom 100G transmission network backbone across major cities in Nigeria in 2020.
He has held various administrative and technical leadership roles while working for high profile organizations and as a volunteer. Some of his roles includes President Elect eClub of Silicon Village Smart Village (SVSV) - 2022, Vice President-IEEE Smart Village Africa working group – 2020-2022, where he build a community of Africa representatives now in 34 countries out of the 54 in the continent providing underserved community with solutions in line with sustainable development goal (SDG) with clear plan to reach the entire continent. Member of Power Africa Conference Steering Committee 2022, Chair IEEE Region 8 (EMEA) Humanitarian Committee 2021-2022, Pioneer Secretary of Rotary eClub of Silicon Valley Smart Village 2020-2022, Regional Lead-Region 8 (Africa) IEEE Day 2019-2020, Executive Member IEEE Region 8 Entrepreneur Initiative where he mentor young entrepreneurs across Europe, Middle East and Africa, Member-IEEE R8 Young professional Subcommittee 2019-2020, Chair- Local Organizing Committee IEEE PES/IAS Power Africa Conference 2019 in Abuja, Nigeria, Chair-Membership Development IEEE Nigeria Section 2018-2021, Chair-IEEE first African Student and Young Professional Congress (ASYP) 2017, Abuja Nigeria.
The multitalented young professional is a senior member of the IEEE communication society, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Project Manager Professional (PMP), Certified Business Analysis Professional, Certified Quality Improvement Associate (CQIA) and a chartered engineer. He is also a member of Project Management Institute (PMI), America Society of Quality (ASQ), Nigeria Society of Engineering (NSE), Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM), and COREN.
Abdullateef is a recipient of several awards that include and not limited to Award of Excellence by the NSE Maitama branch 2021, MGA Board Young Professionals achievement Award 2019, Recipient of Outstanding Volunteer of IEEE R8 ASYP Congress 2017 (EMEA) and IEEE Nigeria Section Merit Award 2017 (NG).
